Overview

The ICN has a large number of scientific projects active at any one time. All the projects listed in these pages have been competitively funded, meaning that funding for the project was awarded based on a competitive review of the project proposal against other proposals at a regional, national or international level, depending on the funding scheme.

Competition for funds is most fierce at an international level. The ICN is within the top 20 of all Spanish research organisations, including universities and the national science council (CSIC), in total FP7 funding received from the European Commission. This is a significant achievement and a strong indicator of the quality and competitiveness of ICN research activities. Currently over 50% of the ICN´s funding general running expenses comes from competitive funds.
